Hello there!
Well the past two weeks have been great. “Honesty” is OUT, and was featured on the homepage of iTunes, which was very cool. Thank you to everyone who has checked it out, or written a review about it. In case you like to read such things before you buy music, you can check one out here. I know I do before I buy shoes online, which usually improves my chance of them fitting from about 55% to 72%. But who's counting?

Hi everyone!
The last couple months have been spent working on my new single “Honesty,” which I wrote in August of this year, and which is being released on January 10th (but you can pre-order it today on iTunes!)
I wrote “Honesty” about the irony of when someone is “being honest,” while really giving you (at most) half-truths in order to keep you in the same state: stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no idea what is truly going on. I'm sure you've seen this and felt this in your life as much as I have. It's the WORST. It leaves you analyzing their words, and then their actions, watching as they don't match up. Writing “Honesty” was my way of funneling out the frustration I was feeling towards someone that made me feel so powerless.

“Honesty,” Whitney's newest single will be available for download from iTunes and other online retailers on January 10, 2012. Whitney, on what inspired the song: “ ‘Honesty’ centers on the ironic notion that when someone is being ‘honest,’ they're really spinning more half-truths to keep you in the same state: stuck in the middle of nowhere. I've seen this in nearly every facet of life: from relationships, to politics to business. It's the worst kind of placating because it begins a vicious cycle of deceit. ‘Honesty’ is a stand against it.”

A SHORT TRIP TO PITTSBURGH

I wish I could've spent more time in Pittsburgh! We came on the day of their famous tree lighting ceremony, which sounded very festive and fun. Mark Anderson was gracious enough to let us come over to WZPT and hang out for a bit. Then I got to (finally) meet Ron Antill at Wish 99.7, who is a great guy to have a thorough life talk with.

In Columbus, OH, I got to meet TJ Holland at Sunny 95, who has some serious memorabilia in his office, as well as the guitar collection of a true aficionado. Then I met up with Shawn Powers and the gang at Mix 94.1, where we discussed having a show in the fallout shelter that exists in their station. It'd be a VERY intimate show (it's about the size of a closet).

FORT WAYNE: A SWEET PLACE FOR MUSIC

Fort Wayne, Indiana may not be as synonymous with “music” as other cities, but it should be. There I got to visit with Jimmy, Dave, and everyone at WMEE. And I promise to come back and play a Christmas song for Jimmy when it's not the middle of November. I also got to reunite with Barb and Marti at Majic 95.1, whom I first met when I recorded for their amazing charity CD at Sweetwater Studios. If you haven't been, GO TO SWEETWATER. It's like Disney World for musicians and music lovers alike.

I traveled to Indianapolis and had the always-wonderful opportunity to see JR Ammons at WZPL-Z99.5. Somewhere in between us goofing around, I got to play them a few songs. I then had dinner with Marco from Indy's i94. Marco is so cool. If you live anywhere within the vicinity of Indianapolis, you should make it a life goal to meet him.

I got to visit with Chris Elliott today at one of the most unique radio studios I've ever seen. The studio is a glass-front so that passersby off Main St. can watch in-studio performances. This was my first radio live performance of “Honesty”!
